As was commented often at the event, long term rural doctoring is a team effort, and having my family present with me was a great pleasure. We manage every detail with the individual recipient at the centre. We work closely with recipients and their families to coordinate travel, accommodation and accessibility needs, adapting arrangements so everyone can participate comfortably.
Through sensitive research and conversations with recipients, families and colleagues, we uncover the stories behind decades of rural service and bring them to life through biographies, media and a commemorative Awards booklet. We also engage employers, colleagues and local representatives, creating a celebration that recognises the people, relationships and communities behind each remarkable career.
